Gregory Fisher Gault - 1941-2008

GAULT, Gregory Fisher, 67, of Raleigh passed away at his home on Friday, October 10, 2008. A Life Celebration will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, October 19, 2008, at the home of Eric and Kelly Goehl, 117 Holly Creek Road, Morrisville, NC 27560. Greg was born on January 31, 1941, in Stamford, Connecticut, son of George and Evelyn Gault. The family moved from Morris Cove, Connecticut to Tucson, Arizona. After graduating from Tucson High School, Greg earned his bachelor's degree in Education at The University of Arizona. He served as a dedicated social studies teacher in Tucson and Wake County for 38 years.

Few teachers touched students' lives the way he did. Even into retirement students still contacted him with news of their accomplishments and memories from their shared past.

Greg served for 10 years as head of the NCAE Teacher's Rights Committee and coached various sports. His golf team at Millbrook High School won eleven Regional Championships and five State Championships. After his retirement he served the American Cancer Society as a volunteer driver. His hobbies included playing tournament bridge on a championship level (Emerald Life Master), playing golf, fantasy football, visiting with his sons-in-law, and writing letters to the News and Observer. Greg was a devoted and loving husband and father.

He is proceeded in death by his brother, Malcolm Douglas Gault. He is survived by his dog, Bandito, his wife of forty-five years, Annalee Ferguson Gault, his beloved daughter Stacy Saenz and her husband, Mike Saenz, of Cary, his beloved daughter, Kelly Goehl and her husband, Eric Goehl of Morrisville, Tom, Marilyn and Alexandra Goehl of Morrisville, his sister-in-law, Kathryn Ferguson of Tucson, Arizona, his sister-in-law Jean Gault of Tucson, Arizona, his nieces, Gail Gault, Beth Gault, Kathy Smith, Julie Gault, his nephew, Scott Gault and their families of Tucson, Arizona, as well as Theodore and Peggy Haigler of Raleigh, and their children Ted, Beth, Becky, Mitchell, Lee, Roy, Harvey, Ashley, Chuck, Clinton, Joe and their children.

Memorial donations can be made to The American Cancer Society or to Heartland Hospice.
